LEAP DAY!

SKYLIGHT Status....
The Skylight is outdoing the flourescent lighting!

Cellophane stream...

Preserving rocks...

There, a heart, caught in the momentary freeze...

See how the water follows? As eager to pause as I am.

Corrugated Cabin

I am afraid of light that makes shadows so dark,
in this corroded corner -
I am afraid that I am making a useless effort to be better
when I keep getting worse at seeing -
I have started to feel comfortable in places I meant to leave
I am starting to feel alone with more people around me.
I am unable to tell that I am doing tiny horrible things,
(such as furrowing my face while someone is talking
so they ask me what's wrong - but I wasn't paying attention,
so I really don't know what's wrong. Was there anything?)
(Or being quiet when my thoughts are screaming - or)
picking at cuticles, pimples, scabs, bumps, hair follicles,
anything not smooth on my skin - I have smooth it.

I have to smooth it.

Sad Baguette for Afternoon Face

No one smells the salt in a tear,
sopped in breaded cheeks,
cracked with dry, aching lines,
aging the skin by weeks
thoughts rising and baking -
hot brine.

No one smells the heat in a sigh
the sweet breath made of dew
collected in the lungs' pits
or the sour residue
it leaves on teeth and lips -
mild cake.

No one smells the scalp on fingertips
rubbed senseless to ease the stinging of hair
useless strands, tuggable and spent
loosely unaware
that they leave their markings -

pulsing sadness.

13 Dollars All Day...

I don't have any cents -
my sincerest apologies, cowboy.

13 dollars isn't in my range,
not even for a day.

And if each of my days were worth
as much as 13 dollars,
I would feel more free than
your horse bucks.

Well, shucks, cowboy.
I think you may have it better than me.

But I'll never be convinced
because your eyes weren't painted that way.

And if they were, would they reflect
the white of your horse's mane,
or the green of a day?

I'm not sure I'd want to know.

From Pier to Boat

A windy day cleared the smoke stack view
which was normally quite smoggish and dingy,
so that a funny looking bright spew
shot out from between the square building and that tall thingy -

It was startling at first, and the water started waving
as if to say, "Back up! There's something wrong
about all this - really!" instead of behaving
like a good host would, and saying "hallo! long

time no see! would you like some tea?"
and we all sort of stood there, a captain, a seagull
and of course, me - feeling sort of happy
looking at our 25 year old boat that had once been very dull - -

Why, now paint had started peeling away
and there were colors I had never seen before - is this what it is like to be day?

ooooh....
